I graduated from Cornell University in 2009, the year the financial crisis hit its lowest point. No one was hiring. There was no roadmap, no coach, and no one who had navigated this specific market before.

I figured it out anyway. I landed a role at one of the largest Fortune 500 hotel companies, earned my way into Columbia Business School, navigated investment banking recruiting — one of the most competitive and opaque processes in professional life — and came out with two offers. Instead, I took the direct investment side. I've spent the last decade building my real estate acquisition career and have learned a lot about the job hunt along the way.
